UT student receives scholarship to the IECA Environmental Connection 2017 conference

picture of Hanahan KubasUT graduate student, Hanahan Kubas, was the recipient of an IECA (International Erosion Control Association) University Partnership scholarship to attend and participate in their Environmental Connection 2017 Conference in Atlanta, Georgia on February 21-24, 2017.

Graduate students from IECA’s University Partnership institutions may apply for full scholarship to attend the annual conference. The scholarship covers registration, lodging, and $500 to cover travel or other incidental expenses. In return the students must participate in the Poster Presentation and serve as a session moderator throughout the four-day conference. The title of Hannah’s poster was “ Modeling Paleofloods in the Tennessee Valley: Associating Flood Deposits with Flows and Frequency Fitting.” Hannah is a Master's student in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at UT, working with Dr. Jon Hathaway. The University of Tennessee is a founding member of the University Partnership Program, which IECA started in 2016. This year fifteen students from ten universities from across North American participated in EC 2017.
