Dr. Koirala’s research interests are focused on temporal persistence of pollutants in streams, understanding the scaling behavior in hydrologic systems, multifractal modeling of hydraulic properties, climate change impacts on hydrology, and climate change induced extreme events. In his research, Dr. Koirala utilizes the tools and techniques such as fractals, wavelets, GIS, and statistics.
Before joining ISSE in May 2009, he worked for URS Corporation for little more than a year. After his Bachelor’s degree, he worked as a civil engineer for about four years for many consulting and construction companies in Nepal.
Currently, Dr. Koirala is serving as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Hydrologic Engineering. He is also involved in peer review activities of the Vadose Zone Journal, Journal of Soil and Water Conservation and the Journal of Hydrologic Engineering.
